EQUITABLE HIRING & RETENTION
Approach: How people are brought into an organization can set them up to succeed or struggle. CCS sees the hiring process as a key foundation in cultivating a welcoming ane inclusive environment for employees. Our recruitment approach is to ensure that organizations understand the importance of applying an equity lens from entry to exit. Sessions will touch on updating organizational outreach strategies to reach a more diverse workforce as well as the diversity of the hiring teams themselves and how this impacts group decision making and bias.
Components: Equitable outreach, recruitment, interviewing process, creating recruitment questions & hiring rubrics, reducing bias in recruitment & hiring practices, and retention up to and including growth opportunities and succession planning prior to retirement or separation.
What to Expect:
Understand how bias has historically informed institutional hiring processes
Gain a deeper understanding of the socio-historical context of affirmative action and how it informs hiring processes
Ability to develop language and processes that promote equity in the initial stages of the hiring process, outreach, and recruitment
Ability to develop interview questions that meet the needs of the organization while identifying and dismantling power structures grounded in white supremacy culture
Create inclusive onboarding strategies that are comprehensive, create a sense of belonging, and center newly hired staff and their needs
