INTERGROUP/INTERCULTURAL COMMUNITY BUILDING

Approach: We start by gaining a deeper, socio-cultural, understanding of our individual (personal)  and group communication styles and examine how they play out in the workplace with respect to power and positionality. To tailor this experience for intercultural groups, we are able to support the setup and facilitation of affinity groups as needed or desired. For a more personalized experience, we often recommend coupling workshops on intergroup/intercultural dialogue with the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI). This allows participants to gain a deeper understanding of the personal and group dynamics surrounding intercultural communication and group decision making.

Components: (Inter)cultural communication, Crucial Conversations, intergroup dialogue, (inter)cultural competence & cultural humility, affinity group design & implementation, and IDI.

What to Expect:

  • Acknowledge and navigate internal and interpersonal communication and tensions as they arise and situate them within a cultural lens

  • Walk participants through stages of racial/cultural identity development

  • Gain a deeper understanding of the relationship between an individual’s lived experience, their communication style, and their ability to navigate difference (using the IDI tool)

  • Gain a deeper understanding of intercultural group communication dynamics and how they inform group decision making (using the IDI tool)
